Creating a Spiritual Work Space

Serenity is within reach.
Serenity is within reach.

Beauty! That’s the first thing that should enter your mind when creating the perfect space to do your spiritual work. Of course, beauty should surround you all day every day, in your home, workplace, even your car. Put out items that remind you of something you love, like pictures of a national park you visited or a waterfall you used to fish at with your father.

Have water handy. Keep a small fridge in your office or offer room temperature bottled water (which is easier on your stomach). When doing readings and healing work you are moving old energy out and bringing new energy into the cellular structure of your client’s body. Water helps release toxins and pass the energy through with ease.

Tissues are essential to have on your table. It is rare that a reading does not bring a tear. As spiritual counselors, we are the alternative to a psychologist and will deal with sadness, pain and trauma every day.

A salt crystal lamp is always a nice addition to your space. Many studies have shown that they can increase the negative ion count. Negative ions benefit asthma patients, people with chronic lung illnesses, and allergy sufferers. They can also help improve learning, memory, and emotional well being. By creating a balance of ions in the air, they stimulate natural drive and healthy energy.

Keep candles and incense to a minimum but don’t forget them. They are essential to creating the right lighting, aroma and atmosphere of serenity. Aromatherapy is also a wonderful way to relax you and your clients.

Give your client
something to read with brochures, business cards and flyers. Deliver a clear and inspiring menu of your services and about who you are, your mission and vision. Your client can take them to friends as well.

And don’t forget to have a sense of humor! Have a laughing Buddah or wall art of ‘don’t drive faster than your angels can fly!’ Remember to keep it light—that is how we truly bring light into our lives.
