Creating a luxury bathroom replete with Luxor Linens in an 1830s Victorian home

The woes of buying a big old Victorian house are many and costly. With only one bathroom upstairs, it was critical that it be renovated before the Christmas holidays when family and friends were gathering. The work began at the end of October, two weeks after moving in, with an estimated timetable of 4-6 weeks. When a leaky pipe was discovered upon removing some of the floor tiles to move the toilet, the entire floor had to be torn up and replaced.

During construction, the full bath and the powder room on the first floor were the only options for attending to personal needs and totally inconvenient with anywhere from four to eight workmen wandering through the house. When patience was about to expire and stress explode, finally the renovated bathroom was completed - just two days before Christmas.

Antiquing and shopping were the game plan during the renovation; a marble sink that had been set into a Victorian dresser was discovered – perfect for the new bathroom. The cast iron tub, ceiling fixture and wainscoting surrounding the room were kept, but the somewhat warped wainscoting around the bathtub was replaced with subway tiles. The black and white checkerboard floor tile was removed and beautiful marbleized off-white tiles were laid. The luxury bathroom was slowly coming together.

Now for the finishing touches - the crème de la crème of luxury was added with Luxor Linens’ sets of bath and hand towels. The color of choice was a richly deep chocolate brown to exude warmth and coziness in contrast to the whiteness of the bathroom. The lush, thick towels are 100 percent imported Egyptian cotton, so soft and cuddly. Adding Luxor Linens’ towels with their plush luxuriousness gave the bathroom its finishing touch of grandeur.
