Creating a Happier New Year

Now may the God of peace...equip you with all you need for doing His will. May He produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to Him.

Hebrews 13:20-21

The year of 2012 has brought many times of growth and sadness. Some of those times I want to embrace and some of them, I want to forget. Through every moment in time, it is those times that allow me to reflect on what I went through and what God brought me through. Each year brings a renewed sense of hope for a better and brighter new year. We expect the best, we hope for the answers and we make resolutions about our life that we feel we need to change or adjust.

This year brings a new sense of hope and reality. I will not make a new year's resolution for 2013. Instead, I will make a vow to myself to do better so that I can become better. I will strive to be a better person. By being a better person, I will focus on my vision, continue pursuing my dream, make better choices, and think about the outcome before making a decision. I want to become more responsible and because I want it, I shall have it.

Creating a happier new year starts within us. It begins with a renewed mindset and a desire to change or transform. If we don't really want it, we will not receive it. If we want it, we can create it through each decision that we make. We are in control of our path through the steps that we choose to take. It is knowing that positive choices and a better attitude are available if we choose to have it. We must do more than demand it. It takes persistence, flexibility, compromise, and a humbling spirit. Whatever tools we need, we must ask the Lord for assistance so that what we use will be restored and maintained. We must ask through prayer and continued faith.

Wherever we dig to get our strength, we must have our shovel on hand because we will need it. There will be days when we get weary or possibly discouraged. We must plan for those times so that we are prepared and ready for battle. The key is to keep our "resolution" and hold it tight. We must never let it go. We can create the life we want to live by simply deciding to do it.

Each year will have good times and bad times, we can never avoid that. What we can avoid is falling prey to those bad times and staying mentally stagnate. We have the power and authority to overcome any bad time or circumstance, just as we have the power to create. Let's tap into what has been placed within us and create a happier life for ourselves in the year of 2013. This will be a more beautiful, happier year than last because we have decided to create it, and because we have decided to create it, it shall be.

Happy New Year!
