Local author and mom Cynthia Goch believes that bringing family and friends to the table is a celebration of life.
Now, she invites your family to an Easter feast where you will enjoy dishes from her cookbook MaMa Mia Cucina (My Mother's Kitchen) such as lamb kabobs, stuffed artichokes and crème brule.
Even better, there will be cooking demonstrations so you can bring her traditions to your Easter celebrations.
The event takes place Monday, March 29th at 6 p.m. at Faunbrook Bed and Breakfast in West Chester, Pa. For reservations, click here.
"We welcome our guests to enjoy a family dinner at the table while enjoying the cooking demonstration, celebration and family tales," Goch said.
Goch, who lives in Downingtown, Pa., said that in her family, certain foods came to represent Easter.
"It was a time of Spring cleaning, church visits, cooking and baking -- all in preparation of the season," she said. "It was ham and lamb; antipasti and artichokes, pastas and lasagna; sweetbread and sweet rolls; biscotti and pizelles."
MaMa Mia Cucina is a cookbook capturing four generations of Italian recipes from appetizers to desserts. The recipes are about food, but the pages are about family, traditions, warmth and comfort.
"My mother prepared the ham and artichokes, while my grandmother prepared the sweet breads and Italian cookies," she said. "We colored Easter Eggs, and filled baskets with chocolate bunnies. We wore our Easter Sunday best; bonnets and gloves, and went to Mass. At Easter, my dad gifted my mother with her favorite flower, a purple and white orchid."
