Create a do-it-yourself Yoko Ono remix and win prizes in new contest

The cover of Yoko Ono's new album "Between My Head
 and the Sky."

Yoko Ono is sponsoring a contest giving budding DJs and remixers a chance to show off their talents on one of her songs and win prizes.

Here's how it works: Go to www.yopob.com/remix.html and download the Yoko Ono/Plastic Ono Band sample pack containing the a capella tracks of Yoko's vocal, vocal effects, and loops of bass, drums, efx and tenorion for "The Sun Is Down," a track from Yoko latest album, "Between My Head and the Sky."

You then create your own remix of the song using as many or few of the samples from the pack, plus and any original audio you want to add.

Make an MP3 copy of the finished mix that’s as high quality as possible, but still under 10MB in size. Email the MP3, along with its name and your name, address, email and phone number to remix@YOPOB.com before Nov. 30. The Top 10 mixes will be selected by Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band and the the winners will receive special signed Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band prizes and will be featured on the Yoko Ono/Plastic Ono Band website over the Xmas and New Year period.

The rules of the contest state you may only combine the samples of “The Sun Is Down” with your own original sounds and music. Your mix must not contain any elements of copyrighted material unless you yourself own the copyright. Entries that include samples of songs by other artists or samples from movies, TV shows, or video games will be ineligible and disqualified from the competition.

More information is available on the page where the sample pack can be downloaded.
