When visiting Orlando, families will soon be able to view a new interactive attraction called The Crayola Experience. According to an announcement in the Sun Sentinel on August 5, 2014, this new site will occupy a space in The Florida Mall in south Orlando, Florida, that will feature 25 family-friendly art activities in 70,000 square feet of space. This new experience will be a combination retail store with Crayola products and hands-on activities to spark interest in artistic creativity.
This new attraction is slated to open the summer of 2015 and the second of its kind; the original one is in Easton, Pennsylvania that opened in 1996 . Easton is where Crayola’s headquarters is based. Crayola’s CEO Mike Perry stated in an interview, “We definitely feel like there’s an opportunity to expand in major markets around the country.”
Kids will be able to use all sorts of digital tools to create art. There will be ways to insert your child’s photo into a personalized coloring book, make your own crayons with personalized labels, project your child’s artwork on large screens, and more. The admission price has not yet been set, although to give you an idea, it costs $17.99 per person to visit the attraction in Easton, Pennsylvania with an average stay of four to five hours.
The opening of this attraction in Central Florida will also create jobs (around 200) for residents of the area. So move over, Disney World, Universal, and Sea World – a new “want-to-go” attraction is on its way!
The Florida Mall is located at 8001 S. Orange Blossom Trail in Orlando, Florida 32809.
