Competing in the Friday Mixed League, Craycraft began the summer league season with a 667 series, followed by a 713 that included a 288 game. But he continued to improve on that, firing a 761 set in Week 3 before unloading games of 300, 242 and 261 for the 803 series that upped his average to 245.
Craycraft's previous high series was 801 at Englewood Bowl during the past winter season, in which he compiled a 224 yearbook average. And he was a standout as a youth bowler at Sarasota Lanes, where he posted a perfect game during the 2008-09 season before joining adult competition.
Also at Englewood Bowl, Brett Carberry finished his first game in the Pete's Patio League with 11 consecutive strikes for a 290 game, before completing a 732 series with games of 216 and 226.
And how about Richard McLaughlin? Even though he blasted a 751 series on games of 267, 247 and 237, he saw his average drop to 254 in the Bob Anderson Plumbing Mixed League at Sarasota Lanes.
Meanwhile at Treasure Lanes in Port Charlotte, Dolores Meyers pounded out games of 252, 245 and 210 for a 707 series in the Kays-Ponger-Uselton Friendly Fours League. The big series makes up for a slow start -- after season-opening series of 486 and 541 -- for Meyers, who has carried yearbook averages of 210 and 206 over the past two seasons.
