Carvin' Cookies and More, an artist-and-writer-friendly baker in Albuquerque's North Valley, is the city's newest booksigning venue.

Cravin' Cookies already hosts frequent events for artists and is expanding its creative menu to include booksignings on the first Saturday of each month.

The debut signing featured two New Mexico Book Awards 2008 authors, Sabra Brown Steinsiek and Kathy Barco.

Steinsiek read a selection from and signed her romance novel, Annie's Song, which includes a KiMo theatre ghost story.

Barco read from and signed READiscover New Mexico.

Steinsieck is well known as a local author of four romance novels and a book of Japanese haiku poetry.  She has a children's picture book scheduled for publication in November 2009.  She is also the principal for Reading New Mexico, a review site for books by New Mexico authors or about New Mexico.

Barco is a children's librarian with the Albuquerque/Bernalillo County Public Library and the former Youth Services Coordinator at the New Mexico State Library.  She is a Los Alamos native.
