The Chevrolet Corvette is one of the strongest chassis designs available on the sports car market today. The general design has not changed much between the C5 and C6 chassis models. The long nose and safety cage for the occupants combined with a large engine creates impervious front crash resistance.

Rear impacts are also greatly protected because the transmission sits on top of the rear axle. These objects act as a wall in a rear end collision beyond the excellent Corvette frame. Side impacts are moderately safe because the Corvette features extensive door crash bars that weigh around 40 pounds per door. The Corvette must be built well in order to withstand the power that built into them stock, let alone modified. Up to 500 horsepower and 500 ft. lbs. of torque can be applied to a stock Corvette chassis. This is a great example of the strength possessed by the Corvette chassis. I would feel safe driving this vehicle over 100 mph.
