The Drudge Report is serving up border conflict headlines, morning, noon and night – Obama cares about two of them, one not so much. Friday's breakfast went down in a gulp amid a Drudge Report banner, "Passenger jet shot down over the Ukraine," with news of Malaysia Airlines flight MH1en-route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur. The jet had crashed to the ground from an altitude of 33,000 feet.
By lunchtime, with graphic details pouring in about the tragic deaths of 283 passengers and 15 crew members, America had little appetite left for the next Drudge banner revealing Israel's ground invasion of Gaza. This event, like the Ukraine, is considered a casualty of an endless struggle of sovereignty between Israel and Palestine.
By dinnertime, global conflict was the still main course, however, the domestic clashes regarding tens of thousands of illegal immigrants, breaching borders threatening American sovereignty in South Texas were not exactly side dishes. Warring philosophical immigration reform positions have increased the level of animus to the point that pro-immigration and pro-border security forces are ready to rip out the ideological throats of their opponents.
Invasion of and sovereignty of national borders are the common denominator of these three major world battles, including the Ukraine and Russia, Gaza and Israel, Central America and the United States. On Friday, in a speech, President Obama addressed events in both Gaza and the Ukraine.
President Obama responded to the deaths of 298 passengers aboard the Malaysian jet. He reiterated his earlier calls "for an immediate cease fire and for Russia to end their support of arms to separatists in Eastern Ukraine." He added that the United States would "stand up for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and to support the people of Ukraine."
Obama also spoke of Israel's right to protect the sovereignty of their border, saying, "No nation should accept rockets being fired into its borders or terrorists tunneling into its territory." However, it is a perception that Obama lacks commitment to the sovereignty of American borders which is fueling Drudge's headline of the "Kick off of border protests across the USA."
Americans are participating in a national day of protest against a break down in border enforcement and an uptick in immigration policies they claim have promoted what amounts to a Central American border invasion in South Texas. It's a three-prong rally against "illegal immigration, amnesty and the border surge."
As thousands of illegal immigrant children are being relocated from the Texas borders, many Americans are outraged. Citing privacy concerns, the Obama administration is currently refusing to reveal where thousands of illegal immigrants are being housed
Speaking to Eric Bolling on FOX News, Michelle Fields ranted, "We have the NSA spying on us everyday; so I love it that the administration is saying that illegal immigrants have more privacy rights than us." Fields then asked what about American children, pointing out, "In America there are currently 16 million children living in poverty, 6.8 million living in extreme poverty. 59 percent of Americans say they want these kids, these illegals, sent back."
President Obama's illegal border crisis plan includes 3.7 billion dollars, and according to Republican Senator Jeff Flake, the taxpayer costs will be up to one thousand dollars a day for each illegal minor. However, addressing Jeb Bush's statement, which was bannered on the Drudge Report, that Illegal immigration was an "act of love," Flake responded, "Truth is, I agree with Jeb, and I applaud him for having the guts to say it.”
