Crane Community Chapel, located in Austin, MN had its first annual chili cook off. This cook off attracted 19 entrants competing for bragging rights and a trophy. A free-will offering was also taken for funding towards a new electronic sign.
The competition was fierce, with many excellent examples of this nationwide favorite dish being presented. Though entries were predominantly the tomato, bean, and beef variety, there were two entries representing the white chicken/white chili variety, two made with buffalo, and one made with a beef and Italian sausage blend. All attendees go to sample and vote for their favorite chili
The winner, by one vote was Dan Hoff, Crane Chapel's sound and multi-media guru. Dan's entry was a typical tomato, bean, and beef type, but had an excellent blend of flavors, spices, and textures that the other entries lacked.
A good time was had by all, and we hope to see everyone back for next year!
