Craig's List is the place where criminals take advantage of unsuspecting people because they seem to fall for one con after another. People listen; Craig's List may have been a great website when it first launched but ever since then, victim after victim after victim--people get conned through their online dating forum, fraudulent employment scams in their employment listings, and of course the section for selling and buying 'stolen goods' because most of the items on there have likely been stolen by one thief and sold to another.
In the latest news, Saint Louis was the focal point of a stolen diamond ring. Reportedly, the Berkeley Police are searching for a conman who paid for Emily Graham of Wisconsin to fly to Saint Louis for the sale of her three-carat diamond ring. The suspect has been identified as Hasmine Huda who was interested in buying her $19,000 ring. If a buyer is willing to fly a seller to another state for a high priced item, then perhaps it would be best for the buyer to fly themselves out to the seller where they are surrounded by friends and in a location where they are familiar with should something go terribly wrong as it did with Graham.
Apparently, Huda had a vehicle with a driver waiting for her at the airport. Graham was under the impression that they were driving to a jewelry store at a local mall. According to Graham they drove to a bad part of town where the driver robbed Graham of her ring, laptop, purse and shoes. I suspect that the shoes were to prevent her from easily running for help. It would seem that even the location of the robbery was prearranged because a second subject opened the car door and brandished a gun.
“The scariest part thought was really when he pulled me out of the car, because behind the warehouse, it was just like a closed down warehouse. Nobody would have seen anything. I thought we [were] going to a mall to go a jewelry store to have the ring looked at by someone he had selected, but we’re going through a really, scary terrible neighborhood. He’s like OK well, we’ll pay for your flight and so he bought my flight down to St. Louis. I said, can I just have my ID? And, then he hit me over the head and said, shut up your stupid, Bitch!"
