Most people do not know who Craig James is. To make matters worse, the people that do know who is, do not like him. A poll was released showing that Craig James is getting a woeful four percent support in his bid for the U.S. Senate. Surely that is just people in Lubbock or people who are big Texas Tech fans right? Even at SMU, where Craig James graduated from, more people dislike him than like him. He was viewed positively by twenty three percent of the people surveyed at SMU. Unfortunately he was viewed unfavorably by twenty nine percent.
Now back to the people at Texas Tech. Texas Tech fans that were asked about Craig James, viewed him positively fourteen percent of the time, they viewed him negatively twenty six percent of the time. Over all, James had a positive rating of eleven percent across the state and a negative rating of nineteen percent. So people who do not know him are unlikely to vote for him. People who do know him are even more unlikely to vote for him.
The Craig James campaign started out as a joke and it is only getting worse. Craig James needs to do the right thing and get out of this race. Any Texas Tech fans that support him are being extremely foolish. It is not a case of fighting the Mike Leach battle over and over. Just the mere presence of Craig James in the senate race, brings up the problems at Texas Tech and SMU. In neither case, does it look good for the school.
Every time that Craig James is brought up, it seems to set off a debate among Texas Tech fans. It is a debate that Texas Tech wishes would go away. It is a debate that the school simply can’t win because it always leaves the fan base split. However, it will not go away with James in the public spotlight.
If Kent Hance still has any friends in Austin, now is the time to call in some favors and try to shut the Craig James campaign down. Maybe that is already happening and Craig just does not want to listen. Maybe he should listen to the voters that were polled; they do not like him very much. They are not going to vote for him. Craig James needs to go away.
