Craig Ferguson on the chopping block

While Stephen Colbert is taking over for David Letterman, Chelsea Handler still is in the buzz of becoming the newest network late- night talk show host. The rumors have good reason to be swirling, but in the end, all these “signs” could mean absolutely nothing.

Rumors have been swirling about Chelsea Handler moving networks, but it seems Craig Ferguson should start searching for work

First of all, as stated by Vulture, CBS is denying being in talks with Handler for any show or new role. Yet, according to Perez Hilton CBS has still failed to renew host Craig Ferguson’s contract. Chelsea has been spotted in “meetings” with CBS, but in Hollywood land, meetings could mean everything, or just something to chat about over an overpriced latte.

The first question on everyone’s mind should be why CBS didn’t follow NBC’s logic, and Ferguson was not in the running to replace Letterman. According to TVWeek, CBS executives felt that, “His talk show’s focus is “too narrow,” and the show hasn’t become a ratings draw.” If the clues don’t point to Handler striking a deal with CBS, the more obvious answer is that Craig Ferguson will soon be in the unemployment line.
