Crafty weddings: Make your own bouquet (Photos)

There are a lot of reasons to make things for your wedding yourself. It could be budget saving or wanting to have a smaller carbon foot print and be more sustainable. Maybe you don't want to support the wedding industry and commercialization of the ceremony. Or maybe you're so talented that you want to showcase your creations and have things just how you'd like them. Whatever the reason to make your wedding decor and accessories, there are so many options for what can be done.

For this article, let's take a look at the bridal bouquets. Make your own bouquet with live flowers, quality silk flowers, rhinestone vintage jewelry, felt flowers, leather flowers, paper flowers or even duct tape flowers if you're feeling adventurous. Make your bridesmaids bouquets and boutonnieres to match.

The bouquet will complement the wedding theme, so use the material that best supports that theme. If you're going to make your own bouquet and don't want to use real flowers, opting for a material that is distinctly not trying to imitate a real flower but instead implying a flower or being an artistic representation of a flower may be appropriate. If you use silk flowers, consider adding rhinestone, feathers or some other creative material to make it unique. Using relative's jewelry may be a way to bring meaning into a ceremony. Or have a party to make the flowers and use creations made by loved ones to be a part of your bouquet. Whatever you choose to do with your bouquet, be bold with it. It is central to the ceremony, reception and photos, along with the bride. Do be afraid to be creative and expressive; you'll be happy for all your many years together that you did.
