Craft stick sled

This cute project is a wintertime staple in elementary school classrooms. Quick and fun, these sleds can also be used as gift tags or place cards. Remember - lots of kids' art and craft supplies can be found locally at The Art Box and Studio Art.

MATERIALS:

  • 8 Craft sticks
  • White glue
  • Utility knife
  • Ribbon
  • Paint, glitter, & sequins (optional)
  • Double-stick tape (optional)

STEP 1

Lay down 7 sticks, side by side. Lay the 8th stick across these. Mark the width of 7 sticks on the 8th stick. (see slide show for pics)

STEP2

An adult should use a utility knife to trim the 8th stick to the length you determined in Step 1. You may set 2 craft sticks aside. You'll only need 5 full-length sticks plus your trimmed stick for the rest of the project.

STEP 3

Place 5 sticks side by side in an arrow configuration. Using a small amount of white glue, attach the trimmed stick across the other 5.

STEP 4

Allow to dry.

STEP 5

Using a small amount of white glue, attach a short length of ribbon. Paint your sled or decorate with glitter and sequins. Double-sided tape turns this cute craft into a unique gift tag.
