Craft beer drinkers in the Midwest should be breathing a sigh of relief lately. The scene is finally getting here, almost 10 years late, but it is showing up. Hearing about a newer bottle shop in the Paducah, Ken. area I had to check it out.
You will have no problem finding Wagner Wine and Spirits. They are conveniently located on New Holt road right next to Walmart and Lowe's. You will easily see the face of Wagner Wine and Spirits in a small strip mall area right off the road.
Walking in the first thing that you will pick up on is how well lit the shop is. Bright warm lights making everything easily seen and giving you a welcoming feeling. You will see the shop is loaded with wines, artisanal meats and cheeses, liquors, and of course craft beer.
If you haven’t figured it our already you will also notice that Wagner is also a gas station. Not that this is a problem it is just a surprise to see this much quality food and drink attached to a gas station. This could actually be a good marketing idea and welcome newcomers to the craft beer scene.
You will find yourself going through an aisle of great rated beers from some of the major craft beer brewers, such as Dogfish Head, Stone, Ommegang, Bells, and many others. What will also be a nice refreshing surprise is the more local beer selection.
Kentucky brewed beers from Altech’s Lexington Brewing Company, Bluegrass Brewing Company, and West 6th Brewing Company. They have almost an equal amount of craft beer in the wall coolers as well. They offer a build your own six pack option for the indecisive and Wagner Wine and Spirits also has a growler service with about ten different beers on tap. The craft beer lover will definitely find something to enjoy here.
As the craft beer industry continues to grow it is up to us drinkers to support shops like this and the local breweries in our area, as long as they put out a quality product. Wagner Wine and Spirits definitely carries quality products in a comfortable welcoming atmosphere and is definitely worth the visit.
