CPSC announces recall for Simplicity Cribs

Just when you think the baby and toddler gear products are out of the woods for recalls, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission  announces a mass recall for Simplicity full size cribs. This is the second Simplicity crib recall includes fixed-side and drop-side cribs. These cribs pose a major risk of serious injury or death due to strangulation, fall hazards and entrapment. The recalled cribs were sold at mass retailers such as Target, Wal-Mart, Babies R Us for $150 to $350.

There have been one reported death caused by the crib and the CPSC has over 12 accidents reported that involve the cribs collapsing on the child or collapsing on the floor. This recalled crib can bend or detach from the metal frame mattress compartment and cause the mattress to fall, which then can cause life threatening injuries to a toddler or infant. This recall involves ALL Simplicity cribs with tubular metal mattress-support frames regardless of model number. The makers of Simplicity cribs, SFCA Inc. are no longer in business, so the CPSC advises all parents and caregivers to contact the store where the crib was purchased for a full refund or store credit.

The recalled cribs were made in China and include the model names Aspen, Chelsea, Graco Aspen, Graco 3 in 1, Simplicity Crib and Changer Combo, Ellis Deluxe and Nursery in a box. If you or someone you know, owns this recalled crib, stop using it immediately and find another alternative safe sleeping space for your child.
