The Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events and Country Financial® will host the sixth annual Chicago Market Reusable Bag Design Contest. The contest is open to all Chicago Public School high school students. The winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship from Country Financial® and have his or her winning design imprinted on all reusable shopping bags distributed at Chicago Farmers Markets locations throughout the city for the 2013 season. There will be two runners-up who will each receive a $500 scholarship and have their designs displayed at the kick-off press conference on May 16, 2013 at Daley Plaza.
This years theme is “Sprouts in the City.” Designs must be original and owned by the student, all mediums are accepted except the use of a #2 lead pencil. Students are encouraged to illustrate the uniqueness and spirit of the city. Entry forms and rules will be supplied to all principals, art teachers and students that are interested in applying. All entries must include the entry form, the phrase “2013 Chicago Farmers Markets” and be submitted and received no later than Friday, April 5, 2013 by 5 p.m. CST.
