According to the Canadian Press on Tuesday, the Canadian Paralympic Commitee has named Catherine Gosselin-Despres of Quebec City as their new executive director.
Gosselin-Despres takes over from Rob Needham and will begin her new role on November 4.
Gosselin-Despres has a masters degree in sports management from the University of Ottawa and a kinesiology degree from the University of Laval. She also has spent time as the chief executive officer for Synchro Canada and as the program director for CanoeKayak Canada. Another career highlight for Gosselin-Despres was representing Canada at the 2007 International Olympic Academy in Athens.
She will be working closely with CPC chief executive officer Karen O'Neill.
The Canadian Paralympic Committee's major goal in the coming months will be to prepare for the 2014 Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia. The games will take place from March 7-16, about a week after the conclusion of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver.
