CPAC 2012 straw poll winner is Mitt Romney

The Conservative Political Action Conference 2012 (CPAC) holds a straw poll each year at the end of its conference, with votes coming from those in attendance, and this year’s winner is Mitt Romney who received of the 38 percent of the votes.

Rick Santorum was second with 31 percent, followed by Newt Gingrich with 15 percent, and Ron Paul was fourth with 12 percent. Ron Paul had been the winner at CPAC 2010 and CPAC 2011. The straw poll votes came from 3,408 right wing activists at the conference

CPAC is an annual meeting of right wing conservatives who gather to throw red meat to those who attend, and their motto is the redder the better. This year’s keynote speaker, who closed the conference which ran for 3 days from February 9-11, 2012, in Washington D.C., was Sarah Palin.
