In decades past, two major events have stood out in the world of photography as venues for manufacturers to introduce new gear to the public: PMA and Photokina. However, in just the past few years, another venue has emerged for all the big names in photography to show off their new toys: CP+, which will start for the 2014 year this week.
So, what can one expect from the big show?
For starters, according to the CP+ website, the show is taking place in Japan, which precludes a lot of people who are reading this from having the ability to go there on a few days' notice. That aside, there will undoubtedly be a lot of exciting news from the show, according to official press releases.
CP+ 2013 introduced 35 new cameras, with there being an official expectation for even more in 2014. Already, there have been a lot of announcements from various camera makers in regards to products as Nikon, Olympus, Sigma, Panasonic, Tamron, Rioch, Sony, Zeiss, and Fujifilm, among other, lesser manufacturers.
As for some stats, here you go. To start with, there are expected to be 114 photographic equipment manufacturers present at this show, sharing 949 booth spaces. The number of people expected to come through the doors: 70,000. In addition, there will be talks by famous photographers as well as people involved in the camera industry on both the engineering and selling ends of the business. Additionally, there will be seminars for people looking to improve their photographic skills, too.
The event will run from February 13 through February 16.
