For the second time in ten-days the Phoenix Coyotes have recalled defenseman David Rundblad from the Portland Pirates, the Coyotes American Hockey League affiliate, per a recent report. He was originally called up to the Coyotes February 3 but was shipped back to Portland on February 5. This season he has appeared in three-games with the Coyotes and has not tallied a goal or an assist.
Rundblad, a Lycksele, Sweden, native was originally drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the first round, 17th overall, of the 2009 NHL entry Draft. On June 25, 2010 he was traded to the Ottawa Senators and in 2011 he appeared in 24-NHL games, scored one-goal and dished out three-assists.
The 6' 2" Rundblad and a second round draft pick were traded to the Coyotes on December 17, 2011 for Kyle Turris. In the 2011-12 season, with Phoenix, he tallied three-assists in six-games. In three NHL seasons he has appeared in 33-games, scored one-goal and dished out six-assists.
While waiting to get a cup of coffee with the Coyotes, Rundblad played 34-games this season for the Portland Pirates. He scored six-goals and had 19-assists.
