Coyotes add organizational depth in day 2 of draft (part 2 of 2)

On Saturday, the Phoenix Coyotes selected another seven players on the second day of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn., giving the organization and additional six forwards and two defensemen in the system.

Here is a look at what Phoenix did in rounds five through seven:

Round 5 (141st overall): Darian Dziurzynsky- Left Wing- Saskatoon (WHL)

Phoenix continued to add depth and grit to the organization by drafting Dziurzynsky with the 141st overall selection.

The native of Lloydminster, Alberta finished last season with 35 goals and 21 assists for 57 points and 125 penalty minutes in 72 regular season games with Saskatoon last season. He also had three goals and three assists for six points and 18 penalty minutes in the postseason.

Round 6 (155th overall): Andrew Fritsch- Right Wing- Owen Sound (OHL)

The Coyotes took their second OHL prospect of the draft in the sixth round when they drafted Fritsch.

The Brantford, Ont., recorded 28 goals and 35 assists for 63 points and 18 penalty minutes in 60 games for Owen Sound. Before becoming a member of the Attack, he played in two games for Niagra, scoring a goal. He was ranked 84th amongst all North American skaters.

Round 7 (196th overall): Zac Larazza- Left Wing- USNTDP (USHL)

In what might’ve been the most interesting selection for the Coyotes in the draft, they chose Valley prospect Larazza as their final pick.

He scored eight goals and five assists for 13 points and 20 penalty minutes in 49 games with the U.S. National Team Development Program. Larazza also played for the gold medal winning Team USA at the IIHF Under-18 World Championships, netting a goal and four assists for five points in six games.

Larazza will attend the University of Denver in the fall of 2011. He was ranked 70th amongst all North American skaters.

Phoenix also had the 201st overall selection in the draft, but traded it to Tampa Bay for center Marc-Antoine Pouliot. The native of Quebec City has scored 21 goals and 32 assists for 53 points and 74 penalty minutes in 179 career NHL games with Tampa Bay and Edmonton.
