Cowtown Marathon: Wind, hills, disqualification

Ft. Worth - As far as road races go this year's Cowtown Marathon went off without a hitch except the first runner across the finish line was an imposter. Scott Downard, of Norman, OK, and his finishing time of 2 hours, 31 minutes, 40 seconds, were disqualified when Downard revealed he hadn't registered for the race and wore the bib number of a friend who didn't run the marathon.

Race officials awarded the win to Tarleton State Univeristy grad student, Kolin Styles who finished the 26.2-miles in 2:37:53. David Thompson, 44, who ran a time of 2:40:54, offically won Seond place.

Beth Cooper, 23, with a time of 2:55:25, won the women’s race. It was a personal best time for her in a marathon and her first win. Karen Meraw, 26, in 3:06:20, won second place.

This year's half and full marathon featured a new course that included more challenging hills than courses of the past. Adding to the challenge was a steady north wind and cool temperatures in the 30's at start time.

Full results of the marathon, half-marathon, 50-kilometer ultra-marathon, and wheelchair races are found HERE.
