"Dudes vs. Bad Dudes" by Cowtown is a fun and energetic Post-Punk album.
Utilizing synth beats, moog, and thick fuzz guitar Cowtown crafts a rather dynamic record with some clearly strong influences.
Songs like "Love is a Lie" feature choruses that rely on the title phrase- bursting out as short and punchy accusations.
The track "Animals" introduces a new female lead vocal- somehow making the already light-hearted production sound more West Coast and sunny.
"Monotone Face" dips into a completely different sound, utilizing the same instruments but managing to sound like some lost 80's synth rock band with a vocal that seems to emulate the voice of a robot. The following track (entitled: 'Nightbeats') stays in the 80's new wave sound with a verse that sounds like it could be The Knack or Cars.
Altogether Cowtown manages to keep things interesting and catchy while mixing up stylistic influences from decade to decade.
