Rumors have gone viral about the winless Dallas Cowboys firing Phillips if the Cowboys lose today against the Texans. The Cowboys have limped into the season with a brutal, embarrassing loss to the Redskins and then a crushing loss to the Chicago Bears.
The play calling has been ridiculous. Tony Romo looks uninspired. The offensive line is playing poorly. The offense is unimpressive. The defense has been lackluster.
Nothing is going right.
Former coaches who have been named as possible replacements are Jon Gruden, Cowher and Marty Schottenheimer. Herm Edwards said earlier this week that he'd love to coach the Cowboys.
Any of those coaches would be an improvement over the current staff, but Cowher would be a dream. Cowher lives in North Carolina and many have said he is the likely replacement for John Fox, who is not winning with the Panthers. Cowher left the game after winning a Super Bowl with the Steelers. He said then that he wanted to spend more time with his family. His wife died this July of skin cancer.
And Cowher recently told a Pittsburgh reporter that he misses the game.
In the comments section, a person says they saw Jerry Jones at the wax museum and asked him about Cowher. Jones apparently said he'd take Cowher immediately. Has he called him?
Cowher also has been named as a possible coach for the Giants.
Either way, it sounds like he will be returning to the game.
