Cowboys DWI arrest: Jay Ratliff latest facing trouble

The latest NFL player to end up in legal trouble revolves around the Cowboys DWI arrest of Jay Ratliff. The starting nose tackle was arrested Monday in Grapevine, Texas after his truck hit an 18-wheeler. NFL.com shared the details on Jan. 22.

Jay Ratliff was alone in his Ford F-150 truck and he was not injured in the crash. The Dallas Cowboy refused to provide a breath sample at the scene of the accident, and toxicology results are pending on the blood test. Police have determined that the accident was Ratliff's fault.

Fans are disappointed to hear about the Cowboys DWI arrest, as it comes just six weeks after teammate Josh Brent and Jerry Brown were in an alcohol-related accident. Brown died and Brent has been arrested. Brent has been indicted on one charge of intoxicated manslaughter. If convicted, he could be in prison for a maximum of 20 years.

ESPN notes that the driver of the tractor-trailer Ratliff hit was not injured either, so in that sense Ratliff got lucky in this accident. The Dallas Cowboys nose tackle was bonded out of jail Tuesday morning. So far Jay Ratliff has not commented on this latest Cowboys DWI arrest.
