The tribute to Nashville legend, Cowboy Jack Clement, took place in style on Weds. night Jan. 30 at Nashville's War Memorial Auditorium featuring several local Christian artists.
The night featured stars of almost every musical genre as well as big names from television and politics, either on stage or via video tributes including Christian artists such as Vince Gill, T Bone Burnett, Buddy Miller and Marty Stuart as well as celebrities like Dan Auerbach, Kris Kristofferson, Charley Pride, Bill Clinton, Taylor Swift, Bono, Emmy Lou Harris, Rodney Crowell, Nikki Lane, John Prine, John Hiatt, John C. Reilly, Earl Brown, Clement's daughter, poet-author Alison Clement, Connie Britton and "Nashville" co-creator Callie Khouri.
Artists performed classics Clement either wrote or produced, while other personalities spoke, presented awards and honors, and commented on Clement's career. The man of the hour, Cowboy Jack Clement had his own set at the end of the show.
The tribute for Cowboy Jack Clement was a benefit for the Music Health Alliance, the new Nashville based, non-profit organization providing the music industry with access to healthcare advocacy and resources. Clement is battling liver cancer.
