Annie: “Why do you still have photos of her?”
Auggie: “I don’t know. I just do. It’s not like I look at them.”

Auggie’s former CIA wife is alive and well. Instead of giving viewers an episode heavy with interactions between Auggie and Helen, the writers have Annie spend some time with her. This is definitely a surprising choice, seeing as how Helen doesn’t seem to be popping back up anytime soon. Aside from one conversation that is not primarily about their relationship and what happened to it, the viewers see most of Auggie and Helen together through flashbacks. Even then, the focus is on Helen. There’s nothing wrong with this choice, but it is an interesting choice for the writers to make. Considering what happens at the end of the episode, it’s great that the writers didn’t pack too much relationship drama into one episode. Would you have liked to see more of Helen and Auggie?
Helen is another example of a woman that Annie takes advice from on handle being in the CIA. As far as women role models go, Annie has really only had Joan and Lena. Helen she shares her learning moment with Annie. The writers did a good job of having Helen share most of the flashback, and show why she did what she did. It would have been nice to see more of Annie struggling with what Helen tells her before she goes to Auggie about her concerns about dating and being a spy. The conversation with Auggie mentions that they have been having doubts for a while, but these doubts were never vocalized. It does help that the writers also throw in a conversation between Joan and Auggie about the same thing. Is anyone else currently in mourning and shock over the end of Walkerson?
Henry doesn’t really do much in this episode. He pops up early, which comes off as ominous, but the writers don’t do anything with it. There is this feeling that something bad is going to happen, but it never does. It is a bit of a letdown. The whole mission with Annie and Auggie doesn’t get anything done aside from show that Henry moved the missiles. It comes off as possibly being a trap for Annie and Helen, but nothing happens. What did you think of the mission?
