'Covert Affairs': recap and ratings

This week on "Covert Affairs", Annie Walker went away from the CIA Headquarters to a land far, far away -- Venezuela. It was episode geared more around an actual spy mission, which is good for a procedural format but not so much if you were hoping for some sort of story progression on the front of Ben.

This episode really all comes down to personal taste -- we saw a fascinating story of tragic love and betrayal, but almost all of the focus in the process for this episode was placed around characters that we'll never talk to again. Annie was just a vessel in that sense -- she did not get to interact much with her family this week, or even with some of her CIA co-workers.

Where was Arthur Campbell this week? What about more of Jai Wilcox?

That being said, this episode also delivered some of the best action I've seen on a primetime TV show ever. The car chases show the touch executive producer Doug Liman has used in the past, and he does so much of it without making the show look like it is on a smaller budget than "The Bourne Identity".

The other good news for fans of the show? The ratings are going in a positive direction. Although final numbers for Tuesday's episode are not currently available, last week marked a noticeable 10% improvement over the premiere. Not bad when you're talking about a show's long-term future.

Were you okay with seeing less of the main characters for one week?

More main character development please. Also, I would like to see more scenes between Annie and Auggie :). In any case I'm enjoying the show.

I definitely agree about Auggie! They create this great chemistry between those two, and then hardly show it. You really need to get to know the characters in order to keep a show going... But it's definitely a lot of fun to watch.
