Coverage of Green Day's Secret Show in New York Last Night

Green Day played an intimate last-minute gig at Studio at Webster Hall in New York City last night.

Emerging close to midnight dressed in Halloween costumes, the band tore through a 2-hour set filled with a slew of the same unreleased songs that they played at a secret gig in Costa Mesa two months ago.

The first hour mainly consisted of new songs with titles like Wow, That's Loud!, Makeout Party, Let Yourself Go, Carpe Diem, Wild One, Stray Heart, and Nuclear Family (among many others).

After an initial hour-long set of new material, the band played classics like Hitchin' a Ride, She, Geek Stink Breath, Letterbomb, Going to Pasalacqua, and more.

Demonstrating their knack for unpredictability, Green Day even played the Misfits classic Hybrid Moments three times. View a video of one of those three performances on the left side of this page.

While the band hasn't officially announced a new album, which would be the follow-up to 21st Century Breakdown, reports from those who have attended the band's various recent secret club gigs are enthusiastic about the material. The Audio Perv's extensive recap had great things to say about Let Yourself Go and Carpe Diem, particularly.

It's great that a band of Green Day's stature is still interested in small, intimate club gigs. Green Day can fill stadiums at this point in their career, so giving back to fans with such spectacular, crowd-pelasing shows for $20 ticket prices is very admirable.
