Entertainment Weekly has the exclusive first look of The Vampire Diaries: The Stefan Diaries, the prequel to The Vampire Diaries books. The prequel books will have a television tie-in and will focus on the past of the Salvatore brothers and their tortured romance with Katherine.
L.J. Smith did not write the prequel series, but it is sure to still hold the same spirit as the novels and the television series. The format of the books will be a diary style from Stefan's point of view which is similar to the first episodes of the show where there were constant voice overs of Elena and Stefan reading from their diaries. Fans will learn how Stefan and Damon met Katherine, how they become vampires and their struggles with being vampires.
The first of the three books, Origins, will be in stores on November 3, 2010 with the other books following soon after, Bloodlust - January 4, 2011 and The Craving - May 3, 2011.
