Each week during the high school sports season the High School Sports Examiner and the Eastern Maine Sports Blog will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations to Marc at firstname.lastname@example.org.
When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination.
2013 Fall season- Week 5- September 30th- October 6th
Courtney McIntyre- Mattanawcook- field hockey- Scored two goals including the game tying goal at the end of regulation in 2-2 tie with Dexter. Scored two goals in 3-1 victory over Hermon.
The Lynx are 5-5-2 and seventh in the class C heal point standings with two games left in the regular season.
McIntyre is the first female to capture athlete of the week at Mattanawcook Academy. She joins Chase Vicaire (1/1/12) and Trysten Pelkey (5/26/13) as other student/athletes from Mattanawcook to earn the honor.
Peyton Watson- Dexter- field hockey- Scored two goals in 2-1 victory over PCHS. Had one goal and one assist in 2-2 tie against Mattanawcook. Scored one goal in 3-0 victory over John Bapst.
Julia Annis- Foxcroft- field hockey- Scored two goals in 4-0 win over PCHS.
Alex Speed- PCHS- soccer- Scored two goals and had two assists in 4-3 over Lee. Scored one goal in 1-0 victory over Foxcroft.
Michaela White- Dexter- soccer- Had two goals and two assists in 8-0 victory over Penquis.
Mariah Pettit- PCHS- soccer- Had one goal and one assist in 4-3 victory over Lee. Had one goal in 1-0 win over PVHS.
Emily Higgins- Foxcroft- field hockey- Recorded a hat trick in 7-0 victory over Stearns.
Delani Bennett- PCHS- soccer- Had recorded three shutouts in the last four games to lead the Pirates to victories over Foxcroft, Lee, and Central.
Bri Skolfield- Foxcroft- field hockey- Has not allowed any goals this season helping the Ponies cruise to a record of 11-0-1.
Aly Crocker.- PVHS- soccer- Has allowed only two goals this season, heping the Howlers start the season with a 9-1 record.
