Courtney Love the latest rock star to join ‘Sons of Anarchy’ cast

Courtney Love is getting ready to rock the small screen. The Hole front woman – who turns 50 today-- will join the upcoming 7th season of “Sons of Anarchy” for a multi-episode arc, according to a report on Tuesday by TV Line. Love will play Ms. Harrison, the no-nonsense preschool teacher of Jax’s (played by Charlie Hunnam) eldest son, Abel, on the FX drama.

The controversial rocker is known for previous acting gigs (she even received a Golden Globe nod for her supporting work in the 1996 movie “The People vs. Larry Flynt”), but the high profile “Sons of Anarchy” role marks Love’s dramatic TV acting debut.

While fans of her music are hoping for a Hole reunion, in May, Love told entertainment site Pitchfork that one of the reasons she recently moved from New York to Los Angeles was “to be closer and more accessible to acting.“ She also described having “a pretty big agent who's very passionate about me right now,” and said she never got a theatrical agent while living in New York.

Love’s revived acting career will undoubtedly make headlines, but she’s definitely passed on a few other recent projects – including acting gigs. In an interview earlier this year with British GQ, she revealed, “Maybe one of the worst movies ever made [approached me]. I'm not going to name it but it was put out last year and was based on a board game. It was really, really bad.”

The rocker also revealed that she regrets letting the Fox musical drama “Glee” use her song “Celebrity Skin,” saying, “They did a very sloppy job with it.” She’s also been approached numerous times by TV talent show like “The Voice,” “American Idol,” and the now-defunct “X Factor.” As for where Love will land when “Sons of Anarchy” premieres, she’s slated to turn up starting in the fourth episode of the new season.

Courtney Love isn’t the only unconventional rocker to join the “Sons of Anarchy” cast. Shock rocker Marilyn Manson has also been tapped to appear in Season 7 of the show, playing a white supremacist who has dealings with Jax. And Jane’s Addiction alum Dave Navarro recurred as a gang member Arcadio Nerona in Seasons 5 and 6 of the hit series.

FX will premiere the 7th (and final) season of “Sons of Anarchy” this fall.
