Courser of Kruphix from "Born of the Gods"
Wizards of the Coast

Courser of Kruphix is one of the latest "Born of the Gods" spoilers revealed today Jan. 22, 2014 in an article on detailing the release notes of the upcoming expert "Magic: The Gathering" expansion set. This rare green enchantment creature can potentially allow you to gain card advantage along with extra life by allowing you to play lands from the top of your library.

Courser of Kruphix - 1GG
Enchantment Creature - Centaur (Rare)
Play with the top card of your library revealed.
You may play that top card of your library if it's a land card.
Whenever a land enters the battlefield under your control, you gain 1 life.

Courser of Kruphix makes the top card of your library common knowledge, and there are some spells and activated abilities where knowing this information can be critical. One casual deck idea might be to combine Courser of Kruphix with Garruk's Horde to rip through your deck. A more competitive suggestion may be to combine Courser of Kruphix with Domri Rade in order to ensure that you'll always end up with a creature in a hand when you use this powerful planeswalker's first ability. There's a few older spells like Predict and Mise which pair well with Courser of Kruphix too.

Because Courser of Kruphix gives you an additional point of life every time a land enters the battlefield under your control from anywhere, it'll help you trigger activated abilities such as from Archangel of Thune. Even without any other interactions, an early Courser of Kruphix off of an Elvish Mystic could help you gain a significant amount of life over the course of a long game.

How will you use Courser of Kruphix?
