Have you and your spouse made your New Years Resolutions?
If you have, what’s on the top of the list?
Usually on the top of the list for most people is loosing weight by dieting, going back to the gym, eating better and drinking less. For some people once the ball drops at midnight they are gung-ho about starting their resolutions.
As January comes and goes so does the hopes of sticking to the plan of making changes in ones life.
By March all of the old habits have already kicked back in. People are still eating the same, they have wasted their money on a gym membership, again and they have had more than a few drinks.
For men they blame it on the NFL Playoffs and the Super Bowl. Women just blame it on their spouse for falling off the wagon and bringing them down with them.
Instead of making unrealistic resolutions couples should try something different.
This year why not try making a change in your life by just doing better and taking things one day at a time. Every day try to do something in order to make this change.
Start off by eating smaller portions. Let’s face it; dieting just doesn’t work for some people. Making and eating smaller portions can help the both of you cut back on what you eat without actually dieting.
When it comes to working out instead of joining the gym why not just keep it simple. Try parking a little further away and walking or walking up the stairs instead of taking the elevator or the escalator.
You can take it one step further by finding a walking trail or a park and taking a stroll. Try holding hands to add a little romance. You would be amazed how much fun you can have just walking and talking together.
As far as drinking goes, instead of stopping cold turkey just cut back.
Working together on these and other resolution couples make will allow them to be more successful in sticking to their plan.
Before you know it you will be congratulating each other on your success in your goals as opposed to blaming each other for your failures.
