Couple shot on I-94 after 'traffic incident'

The Michigan State Police Metro Post is seeking at least two suspects who shot a couple on I-94 in Detroit early New Year’s Day.

The victims both survived multiple gunshot wounds.

The partying pair had left the MGM Grand Casino at about 3:00 a.m. this morning when the trouble started. The male victim told police there was a ‘traffic incident’ outside the gambling house.

The victims, whose names have been withheld, turned onto the Lodge and from there onto I-94, entering the city’s southwest side.

The driver told police he then realized he was being followed. Suddenly an SUV containing the suspects opened fire, ventilating the victim’s vehicle, the slugs striking each several times. The suspects quickly left the area.

The victims were taken to the hospital in private ambulances.

The male was not seriously injured. The woman was taken into surgery.

Though there is no word on her condition, she is expected to survive.

The MSP is looking for a black Ford Exhibition.

Anyone with knowledge about the shooting should contact MSP Sgt Greenway at (734) 287-5000.
