A Detroit man on probation for unarmed robbery allegedly robbed a man and his wife on December 31, after their vehicle got stuck in the snow. After the robbery the man sexually assaulted the wife while holding the husband at gunpoint.
According to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, Howard Mcknight, 22, was charged with two counts of kidnapping, armed robbery and felonious assault and one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct. He is expected to be arraigned today at noon in 36th District Court in Detroit.
In a press release the prosecutor’s office said the couple had been driving at about 11:30 p.m. on New Year’s Eve when their car got stuck in the snow at Findlay and Bradford, a few blocks from the Coleman Young International Airport on Detroit’s eat side. MsKnight is accused of sexually assaulting the 56-year old woman, stealing her jewelry and robbing the couple of $280 before running away. The woman was treated at a local hospital.
McKnight was arrested Thursday according to authorities.
A search of the Michigan Department of Corrections offender tracking database shows that Mcknight sentenced on 9/24/12 to two year’s probation for unarmed robbery.
