The phrase, “couple finds $11,000” quickly became a top trending search on major search engines this week as Yahoo News reported this Wednesday, Feb. 20, that a couple visiting the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco this Valentine’s Day found a very expensive gift that neither had planned: a bag with papers, credit cards, and over $11,000 in cash.
Carlos and Barbara Landeros of Calif. Were just driving down to San Francisco for a romantic evening on Valentine’s Day this year when their walk along the Golden Gate Bridge led them to a small camera bag. The two waited for someone to reclaim the bag before Barbara opened it and found the cash, leading to the couple finds $11,000 online trend.
The good Samaritans did not keep the money and have a very indulgent Valentine’s Day, but instead returned the money and the contents of the bag to the police. Local detectives found the bag’s owner named Mark, a Chinese tourist. He was “thrilled” at finding the bag he’d accidentally left behind, as it held all not only his money, but the money of families he was traveling with in Calif.
Mark thanked the Landeros couple for their kindness, and left a check in their mailbox as a reward, said the source. A heartwarming story, and one that asks us to question our own sense of morality: would we have turned in the $11,000 found in a small bag on the Golden Gate Bridge?
