Weddings take place every single day in Richmond, Virginia. This writer who is an ordained minister has officiated weddings at the John Marshalls Courts Building, in homes, in hotel rooms, in parks, in back yards and of course in various churches; however, she has never performed a ceremony over the telephone.
Today, the bride was in Placerville, Califoria without a wedding dress, bridemaids or flowers. The groom is a U.S. soldier stationed in Afghanistan. However, that did not stop Sarah Brown and Army Spc. Randall Blake from getting married over the telephone.
Sarah Brown has been waiting for her wedding day for years. Even though the man of her dreams was thousands of miles away as a combat medic in the Army, they figured out a way that they could still get married.
Brown was at the County Vital Statistics Office with Blake's mother standing in as his power of attorney.
Retired Chief Petty Officer William Schultz married them over the phone.
A proud soldier serving his country is now proud to be a husband.
The marriage is quite legal and official. Blake is expected to return home in December when the marriage can be consummated.
What God has put together, let no man put asunder.
PLEASE watch the VIDEO of the couple exchanging their vows.
