Sunday, police responded to a missing child call in Florida and found 300 animals in a couple’s home; the couple has been charged with animal cruelty and child abuse. Florida police found several dead animals in the house including three rats and a hamster.
According to the Associated Press, Pinellas County Sheriff's office received a call from Jeffrey O'Neil and Jennifer Kovacs about their missing 16-month-old girl. During a response to the call, they discovered hundreds of animals running around the home. The police later found the 16-month-old girl at the home of another relative. The relative said that the attempted to wake the couple, who were allegedly intoxicated, but were unable to do so and took the child with them; the child was unharmed.
Police reported that they found hundreds of animals in the home and the house was in terrible condition. The animals included snakes, lizards, rats, birds and rabbits and they were being bred to be sold, but the couple did not have any licensing. The couple was arrested and charged with animal cruelty and child abuse.
