Throughout the month of October, Santa Barbara County Animal Services wants you to "Fall in Love with a Shelter Pet." To help sow the seeds of love, special adoption deals are being offered allowing county residents to take advantage of $75 dog adoption fees, free microchipping of cats, or the "White Sale" on white rabbits - $15 for one or two fur one on bonded pairs.
With the close of summer and cooling temperatures, the shelters want to remind you that nothing warms the home (and heart) more than adopting a pet. With over 600 animals to choose from between the three shelters, finding the right one to fit in with your family has never been easier.
At $75, the Fall in Love dog adoption fee is a $35 savings with the county throwing in microchipping for free. Adopted cats can also receive the microchipping, a $30 savings, not something the county routinely provides. Thanks to A.S.A.P. (Animal Shelter Assistance Program) all cats adopted receive the free microchip. And, finally, the $15 charge on the white bunnies is a 50% savings off the normal fee.
All animals adopted from the County Animal shelters are spayed or neutered and up to date with all vaccinations. All that's missing is a loving home.
Take advantage of the change of seasons and the special deals by stopping by any one of the three shelters to Fall in Love with a Shelter Pet. They're open Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
And in Santa Maria the county shelter is located at 548 W. Foster Rd. If you're coming off the 135 just head toward the Sheriff's station. The center will be the second left once you're past.
