County Senior Golden Games provide fit family fun opportunities

The 26th annual St. Charles County Golden Games is not only an opportunity for fun, fit competition for those over 50 but also a chance for the family to bond together in sports training, to practice beneficial nutrition, and to create habits for mental and physical health.

The 2013 Golden Games will be held over May 6-11 in venues across the county. As grandmother or grandfather train, it's a chance for the grandkids (or sons and daughters) to encourage and train alongside the senior competitors.

Anyone over 50 years of age on April 30 may participate in one of 10 age categories. A registration fee of $25 allows competitors to participate in as many of over 40 different sports as they would like. (Golfers pay an additional $20.)

Besides golf competition events include cycling, swimming, volleyball, archery, darts, bowling, dance, track and field, skeet and trap shooting, card games, and others.

Competitors must register by April 4. The registration cost includes admission for two to a May 6 banquet at the Stegton Regency Banquet Center in St. Charles, t-shirt, and awards for each event's first, second, and third place winners.
