A county agreement with the city of San Diego, and four other county cities, to keep up the open space in the San Dieguito River Valley will last another 25 to 50 years. The joint powers agreement would have run out in June.

Earlier in May, the county board of supervisors voted to extened the agreement.

The public of county citizens will still own the valley lands used for hiking and biking on trails near the river. County workers help preserve the natural resources, and, keep recreation areas open.

The county will work with Del Mar, Solana Beach, Poway, and Escondido to keep up the park lands and open spaces. Visitors come from all over the region to visit San DIeguito River Valley. The county's partner cities have citizens that live close enough to regularly visit. La Jolla and Mira Mesa in San DIego are just south, down major roads.
