San Jose, CA (April 5) -- The Santa Clara County Board of Education announced today that they are now accepting applicants to fill up the position of Board of Trustee Area 6 vacated by Darcie Green who resigned March 19, 2013.
Santa Clara County Office of Education Spokesperson Larry Slonaker said, in his press statement, that the appointment is provisional until the term of office of the vacant seat expires in November 2014.
Applicants must be registered voters residing within Board Trustee Area 6 which includes Oak Grove School District, Evergreen School District, the Franklin McKinley School District, and the corresponding portion of East Side Union High School District.
Interested applicants must submit a letter that includes their interests and qualifications for the position. They must also include a minimum of three references and a resume. All materials must be received by 5:00 p.m. on April 22, 2013 and must be submitted to Dr. Xavier dela Torre, Santa Clara County Superintendent of Schools, 1290 Ridder Park Drive, San Jose, CA 95131-2304.
Selected candidates will be interviewed at a pubic meeting of the Board and appropriate action on the appointment will be rendered by the Board in May.
The County Board of Education sets the policies that guide the SCCOE and establishes its operating budget. In addition, it serves as an Appeals Board for such actions as inter-district attendance requests and student expulsions.
