According to a Jan. 24 media release from the NFL and FOX-TV, The Band Perry, along with "American Idol" winner Phillip Phillips, are set to perform at the NFL Tailgate Party, with each performance televised live on "FOX Super Bowl Sunday."
Per The Band Perry's PR camp, the hit-making trio of siblings has has reached "dizzying heights" since the 2010 unveiling of the act's self-dubbed debut album on the Republic Nashville label. The quadruple-platinum disc is home to a string of hits, including "If I Die Young" and "All Your Life," both of which hit No. 1 on the country charts, as well as the chart-topping "You Lie."
Lead vocalist Kimberly Perry, flanked by her younger brothers, Neil and Reid, have managed to move more than 10.3 million tracks to country fans, thanks to the success of both their platinum debut and gold sophomore release, "Pioneer," which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums Chart and No. 2 on the trade's All Genre rankings.
Beyond recognition from critics nationwide, the album has yielded a pair of No. 1 singles, "Better Dig Two" and "Done," the latter of which earned Neil and Reid their first chart-topper as songwriters. The lineup's current single, "Don¹t Let Me Be Lonely," now occupies the No. 2 slot at country radio.
As for the Super Bowl, last year's event drew some 164-plus million viewers in the U.S. This year's pregame show and Super Bowl XLVIII will be broadcast worldwide.
In addition to The Band Perry and Phillips, the NFL previously announced that Renee Fleming will perform the national anthem and Bruno Marrs will deliver the Pepsi Super Bowl XLVIII Halftime Show, organizers previously confirmed.
