It was an event like no other, it was October 1, 2013 and an event was about to happen today like no one had ever seen in a town of a little more than 3,500 like ever before. All eyes would be fixated on Benson, Minnesota. The school known as Northside Elementary would never be the same, after leading the pack for the Give to Target contest, successfully securing 10,000 votes and being the first school to win the national contest.
The winner of the contest would win a celebration at the school, which would include according to the contest rules, once reaching the10,000 votes mark would win a celebration event. All participants had to do was during the contest promotion entry period which started on August 14, 2013 through September 30, 2013, was log on to Target Facebook and vote for their favorite school out of the list of eligible schools, and vote. Target would then donate $1 to a school for each vote received. In order for a school to be eligible it must be located in the United States with a 501 (c )(3) or 509 (a)(1) tax-exempt status.
