The movie ‘Country Strong’ was honored with the Tex Ritter Award in a pre-decision of the Academy of Country Music Awards. The award, given to a major motion picture that displays or uses country music, is part of the celebration on Sunday night with the ACM Awards.
Stars of country music aren’t too far from their chosen fields as Gwyneth Paltrow and Tim McGraw were characters who are familiar in the country music scene. In addition to the stars of the film, the cameos were rich with country flavor as like Trace Adkins, Sara Evans, Faith Hill, Ronnie Dunn, Patty Loveless, Hank Williams Jr., Lee Ann Womack and Chris Young were in the film. Country Strong is a drama about a country superstar staging a comeback, and the challenges faced to make it happen.
The Tex Ritter Award has acknowledged films in the past that highlight the life and music of the country western theme. Other films in years past include The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Crazy Heart, and O Brother, Where Art Thou.
Even though the award is part of the big show, there will be no presentation tonight in Las Vegas for the movie, instead the award will be handed off behind the scenes, but the fans can be delighted just the same.
