Country star Kacey Musgraves comes to Ames on Thursday

Country singer and songwriter Kacey Musgraves will make a stop in Ames on Thursday, December 5 for a show at the Iowa State University Memorial Union. Doors at the Memorial Union open at 7 p.m., and the music will start at 8 p.m. Tickets to see Musgraves in concert are $25 ($20 for ISU students), and they can be purchased at the Maintenance Shop box office (in the Memorial Union) or through MidwesTix. This will be an all ages concert event.

Kacey Musgraves took the nation by storm with her March release Same Trailer Different Park. The album went to #1 on the Country chart and #2 on the Billboard 200. It also earned Musgraves three ACM Award nominations, two CMT Music Award nominations, and six CMA Award nominations. Of those six CMA nominations, Musgraves won one: "New Artist of the Year". Rolling Stone Magazine named Same Trailer Different Park one of their "50 Best Albums of 2013" (#28).

Kacey Musgraves started performing at age 8 and began writing her own songs a year later. Musgraves self-released three albums before finishing seventh on the USA Network competition Nashville Star. Same Trailer Different Park was her major label debut. On top of her own hits, Musgraves has written songs for the likes of Martina McBride, Miranda Lambert, and Gretchen Wilson. Musgraves' work can also be found on the hit ABC television series Nashville.
